Whatever your skin type is, there's bound to be a foundation-powder combo that'll work for you. You just need to consider what your skin needs, and find the products that complement each other enough to achieve the base that you desire.
Here's our very own comprehensive guide to looking for that dream combo, divided according to skin type, of course!
Dry/Mature Skin
IMAGE MAC Cosmetics, Make Up For Ever
MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Moisture Foundation, Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, Rockwell; Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation, P2700, HD Pressed Powder, SM Megamall
Base products that work on dry skin need not be overly dewy and oily. A soft, satin-finish actually mimics the texture of healthy skin better, and a foundation formula that provides that natural finish while hydrating the skin complements dry skin. As for powder, go for a baked or finely-milled formula that won't accentuate your dry patches and suck the moisture out of your skin.
Combination/Oily Skin
IMAGE Smashbox, Ulta
Smashbox Studio Skin 15-Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation, P2100, Halo Hydrating Powder, P2900, Beauty Bar; Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin and Pressed Powder, P825, Watsons
Products for combination and oily skin types require more than just good coverage. They also need to stick to the skin even after your natural oils come through. To cater to this need, you should opt for formulas with matte finishes that don't transfer and mattifying powders with light coverage for your touchups.
Sensitive/Acne-prone Skin
IMAGE Etude House, NARS
Etude House AC Mild Cushion, P1089, Zero Sebum Drying Powder, P398, SM Mall of Asia; NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, P2450, Pressed Powder, Glorietta 4
Other than aiming for safer formulations, sensitive skin types are better off with lighter foundations and powders that are comfortable to wear. This is because full-coverage matte foundations are more likely to irritate sensitive skin because of the extra ingredients they contain.
