It’s universally known that hair can make or break an outfit, but for Filipinos, it plays a much bigger role than simply being the finishing touch to any look. Rather, it’s tied to identity, culture, and heritage, making it all the more important to take care of.
Filipino hair exists across a spectrum, from straight and wavy to curly and coily, and this greatly impacts the kind of care each individual needs. Just as there is no single hair type in the country, there is also no single formula for healthier hair.
This is where the Filipino Hair System comes in, taking a more personalized approach to caring for Filipino hair.
The Filipino Hair System by MARK’ed Concierge
In 2018, MARK’ed Concierge pioneered the integration of hair-scanning technology into its consultation process. This approach was rooted in founder Mark Anthony Rosales’ philosophy of understanding hair beyond its surface, allowing the team to identify the kind of care it needs with greater precision and accuracy.

The Filipino Hair System, as they call it, is a personalized framework that considers multiple factors and brings them together into one holistic approach.
Goal: What do you want?
Lifestyle: What do you do?
Habits: How do you treat your hair?
Hair + Scalp: What is their current condition?
Climate: What environment does your hair live in?
This is also tied to the salon’s Skinification Movement, built around the idea that “your scalp is your skin too.” Much like a skincare routine, it follows the steps Cleanse, Care, Treat, and Maintain, putting scalp health at the center of the conversation. Healthy hair starts at the roots, after all.
The system then becomes actionable through the MARK’ed Method, which starts with a curation of products, tools, and treatments. This is followed by an analysis of the hair and scalp, as well as the individual’s habits. Finally, a routine is recommended, one that is sustainable and easy to maintain.
Overall, this helps debunk the mindset that recommendations from other parts of the globe automatically work best. Western routines, for instance, may involve skipping wash days because people in these climates generally experience less sweating and oil production. Applying the same approach in the Philippines, however, may lead to unwanted buildup, since we deal with more heat, oil, sweat, and humidity. At the heart of the innovation is the belief that the appropriate care should be known rather than guessed, because “Filipino hair deserves to be understood.”
