“Fun and feminine with some urban grit has always been my fashion dogma. This year’s Ball has me seamlessly blending Asian cyberpunk with some good ol’ fashioned disco, since I've forever been obsessed with Roppongi's electric, clubby nightscapes. My Bowie-meets-Blade Runner homage has some in-your-face rainbow glitz intermixed with moody, grungy velvet, anchored by sharp, metallic touches—jewelry, makeup—and even a touch of ’80s roller skater. Get ready for some blood on the dance floor!”

"I have a current fixation on the masculine-feminine contrast, opting for minimalist, streamlined pieces, so it made perfect sense to combine leather and chiffon to create that demure yet edgy look. Powerful and statement-making were my requirements with a little special request: a thigh-high slit."

"Janet Jackson is my dance hero. If I were to have a second life, I want to be her back-up dancer! Wouldn't it be awesome to earn a living and see the world just by dancing on stage? Suffice to say, my Preview Ball outfit is highly influenced by the great Jacksons—sexy with a street sensibility. Black and gold are my main colors, with a touch of punk rock to give it more of an edge."

“I’ve always, always been drawn to wear black or white; in this case, both. I wanted another interpretation of a shirt dress—shapeless and comfortable but also sexy. I took inspiration from numerous things like the QR code (how techy!), tango (the slits and backless design were taken from this dance), and also Narciso Rodriguez S/S 2013.

As for my accessories, I opted to have a necklace done by Ken Samudio: a chunky piece with a phoenix. I always liked the idea of a phoenix rising from the ashes—a current state of mind, if you ask me. Finally, I’ll finish it off with a strappy pair of black heels and a clutch that reminds me of an orange crystal!”

"A prom-themed outfit instantly came to mind, but I didn't want it to be the usual frilly and sappy kind. I remember watching the Anti-Prom episode of Dawson's Creek: Dawson, Joey, Pacey, and the gang had a low-key prom (although drama was everywhere: cue awkward Joey and Pacey starefest) but they didn't have boring traditions; just pure, young fun. So I informed my designer that I wanted an Anti-Prom outfit, with pops of neon since I've been obsessed with the fluoro spectrum ever since I was a toddler."

“It’s obvious that I’ll be wearing a white ensemble. I had to let go of my desire to wear a fun fringed frock because of time issues, but my flamenco dance/Balenciaga S/S 2013-inspired outfit should do the trick. My goal is to look clean, fun, and fresh, that’s why I’ve decided to go with a chic white ensemble, minimal accessories, natural makeup, and pulled-back hair.”
