Make it look au naturel.

To those who weren't blessed with a naturally freckled face, listen up. You don't have to be in the sun all day to rock this look, because faux freckles are much easier to achieve than you think. Making them look au naturel is not complicated at all. To help you out, we took it upon ourselves to get tips from a local master of the art herself, professional makeup artist Sylvina "Slo" Lopez.

1. Keep the placement irregular and random.

Freckles are formed organically by the skin, so using different techniques in different areas will make your fake ones look natural. Don't focus on one specific area and combine techniques like stippling with a brush and dotting with an eye liner to keep the balance. For Slo, she uses a hard toothbrush with a deep foundation to stipple the freckles on, then she balances the look by dotting more with an eyebrow pencil in other areas.

2. Use an eyebrow pencil for better accuracy.

"The pencil gives me more control," Slo says. This way, you can add freckles on the parts where the stipple technique may have missed.

3. Save some cash and use your current brow products.

If you aren't a makeup artist and you prefer not to use a pencil, you don't need to buy darker foundations to get this look. You can simply use the edge of your angled liner or brow brush then dip it into some brow powder to start drawing.

4. Use neutral tones.

Slo recommends using a taupe brown eyebrow pencil and a deep, neutral-toned foundation for faux freckle looks. This way, you can avoid accidentally drawing on something that looks like a dark scar.
