I believe that the foundation of good skin lies in an effective skincare routine and starts with proper cleansing. We have to remember our face is our canvas and that we need a good base to start with. Wiping away your makeup with micellar water won’t cut it. Deep cleansing is essential especially after a long day of subjecting your skin to pollution and sweat. The best way to make sure your skin is squeaky clean is by double cleansing.
What is double cleansing? Double cleansing actually means using two different types of cleansers to properly remove impurities and thoroughly cleanse your skin. It's a simple-yet-effective process, especially when you have makeup on. First, apply an oil-based cleanser to your face to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and sweat. Then, use a foaming cleanser that will clear pores of residual oil and grime.
Why double cleanse? Simply put, oil and water don’t mix and you need both to draw out and remove both the oil (makeup, excess sebum, sunscreen) and water-based impurities on your face. The water-based foaming wash allows the surfactants (cleansing agents) to penetrate the layers of skin, since you have cleared away the oil barrier that would otherwise prevent this from happening. Water-based impurities, such as sweat and environmental pollutants, can then be properly removed.
Here's my 5-step double-cleanse skincare routine:
Step 1: Oil Cleanser

First, use an oil cleanser. This one's a virgin coconut oil-based cleanser ideal for removing the thickest makeup and sunscreen with just a swipe of a cotton pad before you can say ‘oh snap!’ It dissolves makeup, unclogs pores, and removes impurities like dirt and excess sebum, all while leaving your skin moisturized.
Step 2: Foam Cleanser

Second, follow it up with a water-based cleanser. It creates a clean foundation for the next steps in your skincare routine. This one removes dirt, sweat, and pollution without leaving your skin tight or dry. It also comes in a foam pump bottle for an easy and fun way to cleanse your face, revealing brighter skin tone and smoother texture.
Step 3: Tone & Moisturize

Third, I use a face mist. This one's a toner and moisturizer in one. It's the ultimate multi-tasking skin care mist that's easy to use! It has tea tree oil which has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the redness and helps fight acne. I like to spray this all over my face then pat it in.
Step 4: Face Oil
