It's like your hair, but better.

If you're not blessed with curling iron skills, then we bear good news. The grunge, "natural" hair look that was big in the '90s has never really gone out of style, and you can easily cop the look right now.

Backstage at the Vetements' AW19 show in Paris, lead session stylist Gary Gill shared his "your hair, but better" tricks with Dyson. And yes, they're completely iron-free.

According to Gary, embracing your hair's natural texture is key to the look. Instead of blowdrying, which changes your hair texture, his go-to technique is diffusing. "This creates a very lived-in texture, which I love. It also helps create volume," he explains. He recommends the diffuser attachment that comes with Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer (P21,500, Zalora).

Once the hair is dry, he suggests applying a texture enhancer that matches your hair type. A curl enhancer like Aveda's Be Curly (P1838, Greenbelt 5) is his pick for curly hair, while Wella's Ocean Spritz and Oribe's Texturizing Spray are his recos for lived-in texture. "[The Oribe spray] has been great for consumers to create volume and texture. It also allows you to get the air into the style, building up a great shape," he says.

However, Gary notes that it's crucial to use a texturizing spray properly to get the effect you desire. "The biggest mistake anyone makes [with texturizing spray] is the application," says the hairstylist. "It is about sectioning the hair off, making sure the hair is of equal wetness, not soaking wet but just a nice damp. Work in the product gently. It's important to not overdo it." If you accidentally spray too much, distribute it evenly with a wide tooth comb, but avoid applying too much pressure to preserve the texture you just created.
