The name Solenn Heussaff is synonymous to the word superwoman. The actress/artist/activist/businesswoman/vlogger is able to excel in everything she sets her mind to—even doing full-on glam makeup in a moving van across the Israel dessert. Nope, it’s not a hoax, Solenn nailed her soft smokey eye and fully freckled look all by herself without any help at all. She seriously just asked our Creative Director Vince Uy for a makeup peg and she was good to go. The result, of course, was breathtaking and is easily one of our most iconic cover looks to date.

We took a redeye Cathay Pacific flight to Israel, which allowed the team to sleep on the plane and wake up with almost no jet lag at all.

The Cathay Pacific Lounge was definitely a highlight. Sos loves their noodles and dimsum!

Our cover shoot was two days long and Sos did her makeup in her room for the first day.

We also flew in hairstylist John Valle since we wanted Solenn to have really tight and kinky curls.

John actually set her hair with pins, and to maintain the curl throughout the day he would constantly pin them up since all our succeeding locations had no power outlets.

We moved to the beach beside Old Jaffa for this layout. It was a cool day out.

Old Jaffa has iconic landmarks and a lot of places to get that cover-worthy shot.

We ended the day at this quaint and quirky boutique hotel near the Old Jaffa flea markets. This layout is actually our digital cover!

Day two began with almost a two hour drive to the Dead Sea. Solenn had to do her makeup in the car so we could reach our location on time and shoot before the sun set at 3:30 pm!

We found these rock formations that looked breathtaking and decided to shoot a cover layout option here.

Preview Fashion Director Daryl Chang always made sure that each dress looked perfect in every photo. She really is hands-on when it comes to shoots!

Solenn makes it so effortless. But in fact, this little hill was pretty steep and the path was less than a foot in width! One small misstep and you’d tumble down the slope!

We finally got to the Dead Sea! And it’s vast as it is unrealistically gorgeous!

This white shore is actually made up of salt! However it does look like ice crystals when photographed.
