Just like her husband Billy Crawford, Coleen Garcia also has her own impressive set of tattoos. Though her collection is smaller and more conservative in size, you'll be surprised at how big the meanings are behind some of them. She has a few just-for-fun inks, too, because why not? Take a closer look at the actress' tattoos below!
The Meanings Behind Coleen Garcia's Tattoos
The anchor tattoo on Coleen's back is actually one that she designed herself. It has different portions with their own individual meanings, all of which she told Preview during her first solo cover for the magazine in 2016.
The anchor itself is a symbol for strength and stability for Coleen. "No matter how strong the wind blows, a boat will stay in place as long as the anchor holds it in place.," she explained. For her, it represents the trials she went through with her husband Billy (who was only her boyfriend at the time), and also the actress' religious faith.
She continued, "In the past, people weren't allowed to be vocal with their faith—they could (and did) get killed for it. People used to get anchor tattoos to conceal the cross. So this anchor also represents all the weight on my shoulders, which was lifted by cross."
Meanwhile, the butterfly beside the anchor is dedicated to Coleen's grandmother. "My grandmother practically raised me by herself and supported me in every way possible. My own interpretation of the butterfly is freedom, individuality, metamorphosis, and transformation," she said.
"Lastly, the infinity sign is a reminder that all of this is forever. I will always have strength, I will always have God, I will always have my family. This tattoo reminds me that it's all going to be there forever."
2. "Jesus" script
The word "Jesus" written right underneath Coleen's collarbone is one of her most visible tattoos. It makes an appearance in most of her Instagram posts, and that's definitely no accident because this, like her anchor tattoo, is an emblem of her faith.
3. "My everything"
One of Coleen's more low-key inks can be found on her hip. It bears the words "my everything," which are words that come straight from Billy's wedding vows! The design itself is in Billy's handwriting, and what makes it even more special is that it's inverted from a third person's perspective. "So only I can see it," Coleen reasons.
4. Lisa Simpson
In 2019, Coleen and her brother Luis got The Simpsons characters Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson inked on each of their legs. The pair didn't divulge particularly special meanings behind, but Bart and Lisa being siblings like them will suffice as an explanation, we think!
Coleen has yet to publicly share the meaning behind the flamingo her wrist, but that doesn't make the tattoo any less adorable than it is. In fact, Coleen took this cool photo against a flamingo mural in Australia in 2018, and it's still one of our favorite photos on her feed!
