Makeup brushes help us girls in getting our eye makeup right, our foundations blended in with our skin and our blushes seamlessly placed on the apples of our cheeks. Just like any other item we put directly on our face, we need to properly take care of them. Cleaning them regularly will also help retain their softness.
You must sanitize them after every use and clean them thoroughly every week. If not, it will be a breeding area for bacteria. Dirty brushes can cause skin irritation. Just imagine passing bacteria to your makeup then putting it on your face?
Sophia Uy of Charmed Makeup Brushes recommends using a quick-drying makeup brush cleaner to sanitize the brushes after each use. Our suggestions would be the citrus-smelling Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner. Spray it onto brushes and wipe off makeup with tissue.
For weekly thorough washing, Sophia suggests two ways of cleaning them. The first method is to fill a cup with makeup brush cleaner and water. Swirl the brush and you'll see the makeup separate from the brush. If you don't have a brush cleanser, we have tried using baby shampoo and it produced the same results.
Sophia explains that the second approach is to wash them under running water. Squeeze liquid soap on your palm and swirl the makeup brush. Continue rinsing it by gently squeezing the bristles until the water runs clear.
Sophia also reiterated that the best way to dry the brushes is to lay them flat to air-dry on a clean towel.
To help maintain their shape and density, she explains that you can keep them in a makeup bag, brush case or a cup ready for the next glam up session.
