After Bea Gomez's impressive run at Miss Universe last year, we have another inked beauty slated to represent us on the global stage. Aside from her captivating gaze and bombshell runway walk, another thing that draws us to Celeste Cortesi are her tattoos. Whenever she dons a swimmie (which she got awarded for during the pageant, ICYDK), we get a little peek of her body art, and we've been nothing but curious to decode what they mean.
Thankfully, we don't have to wonder any longer. The newly-minted Miss Universe-Philippines just gave Preview a little tour of her tatts, and we're sure you'll love learning about them, too!
Here Are the Hidden Meanings Behind Celeste Cortesi's Tattoos
1. Tattoos dedicated to her dad are placed on "the side of [her] heart".
Placed on Celeste's left wrist are the initials of her dad's name, plus his birthday. "I got it when I was 18 years old in honor of my late dad," she tells Preview.

Another tattoo the beauty queen got in honor of dad was a white feather on her left collar bone, which represents how she sees him as her guardian angel. She goes on to say that she got these on her left side since that's where her heart is. Aww!
2. Her thumbs have tatts that celebrate her heritages.
Celeste is more than proud to be both a Filipino and an Italian. Text on her left thumb reads "half Filipina," while her right one says "made in Italy."
3. A personal reminder (and a cute drawing) are inked on her right arm.
The design on Celeste's right arm is a quote in Viking language that translates to, "if you want change, you have to invite chaos," which is somewhat of a personal motto for her.

A little further down from that is something equally as special: an illustration of her dog Dolce. So cute!

4. A tattoo of a special flower can be found on her right hip.
One tatt we can spot whenever Celeste rocks a swimmie is the floral design on her right hip. According to her, it's the "forget me not" flower (otherwise known as scorpion grasses). She shares that "it’s a flower I used to pick when I was a little girl and it symbolizes remembrance of the people who are no longer with you."

5. She got a tattoo to commemorate a vacation she had to Siargao.
Almost a year ago, Celeste flew to the island paradise of Siargao with her beau, Matthew Custodio. It was such an unforgettable trip that she commemorated it with a palm tree etched on her left thigh!

6. In the middle of her chest is a symbol of beauty.
Perhaps one of the beauty queen's most striking inks—one that grabbed our attention the moment we saw it in her swimsuit competition entry at MUPH—was the design in the middle of her chest. Celeste reveals that it's an arrow with a diamond, and that "it symbolizes beauty and as an arrow you always have to move forward no matter what." We love it even more now!
