As we close Women’s Month, we spotlight fearless Filipinas who defy conventions, proving that no gender—or hair rule—can hold them back.
These fearless Filipinas prove that no industry is off-limits to those who break the mold.
For generations, societal expectations have shaped women's roles, while the landscape of certain industries has been defined by a singular perspective. Times have changed, but women still often feel an unspoken pressure to prove themselves in male-dominated spaces as they navigate the unique demands of their fields.
Now, a new era unfolds. The spotlight shines on these women as a testament to their resilience, proving that strength and capability know no gender.
To celebrate those who are rewriting the narrative, Preview.ph, together with Dove, recognizes six Filipina trailblazers who are defying norms with both strength and grace as they make their mark across various fields.

These women are redefining success on their own terms:
For these six Filipinas, stepping into their respective industries was more than just a career choice—it was a pursuit fueled by passion. Each journey began differently, yet they share a common thread: the determination to carve their own path as athletes, an architect, a pilot, a business owner, and an adventurer.
These women are brought together to prove that femininity is strength. And that determined spirit and confidence radiated during their photo shoot with Dove and Preview.ph.

Pro-volleyball player and licensed architect Jessey De Leon shared that her journey began with her love for playing with and creating beautiful spaces.
Behind her bubbly personality, you can see a resilient woman as she recalled her beginnings. “It was a challenge because there were a lot of doubters. It wasn’t an encouraging start,” Jessey confessed. “What’s difficult is breaking free from [societal] molds and trying to challenge the preconceived notion about women [their roles and capabilities].”

According to her, these challenges fueled her drive to create something meaningful and impactful—a passion that shines through in her projects. After all, to her, true accomplishment goes beyond gender.

For travel adventure filmmaker Xzar Lim, what started as solo adventures soon turned into a career: “For me, it’s about proving that adventure has no limits.”
Xzar admitted that, initially, it was intimidating to be the only woman in the group. She shared, “[There’s] an unspoken pressure to prove that I could keep up… [because there’s] a common perception that solo female travelers aren’t as capable.”

Still, she pushed beyond boundaries, taking her mission further by creating opportunities for other women to embrace adventure with confidence.
There’s a quiet revolution happening, a dismantling of dated beliefs, stereotypes, and old assumptions. It’s happening in boardrooms, on basketball courts, and in every space where women are told, “You don't belong.”
The idea that women lack what it takes to thrive in a professional setting is a narrative these Filipinas have shattered. With every milestone, they are proving that they also have the skill, determination, and ambition.

In fields like sports, the notion that women aren’t as physically capable or as talented as men remains. This feeling of being undervalued is something that basketball player Camile Clarin knows all too well. “They see our game as maybe less exciting or less entertaining simply because we’re women,” she shares.

“I think the margin for error as a woman is so much smaller because the opportunities are much more scarce,” she continued. But despite these hurdles, Camille sees them as motivation to push forward, adding, “I feel that my confidence in just being myself, in an industry that often makes you feel inadequate, has allowed others to embrace their own without feeling the need to change.”

This same battle to be seen as equals, also exists in the world of aviation. For pilot Chezka Carandang, the misconception extends to the belief that passengers feel safer with male pilots. But even so, for her, what’s important is focusing on doing her job the best way she can. “The aircraft doesn’t know if a man or woman is flying the plane,” she stressed.
Chezka explained, “By being here, I show other women that they belong in aviation. So the more women join, the more normal it becomes. Let’s remove the ‘lady’ [in] lady pilot. Just pilot.”

And that's the essence of breaking gender norms: not just proving them wrong, but normalizing a future where they never existed. These Filipinas are building a world where ‘woman’ doesn’t precede ‘athlete,’ ‘pilot,’ or ‘leader.’ They are creating a landscape where pure talent defines possibility, and where every young girl can chase her dreams without hesitation.

For these women, success and self-care go hand in hand. Take it from business owner and wellness advocate Danika Nemis, who believes that prioritizing her well-being is key to feeling strong and confident so she can show up as her best self.

By doing so, Danika hopes to set an example for her daughters: “I am paving the way for [them] to grow up with self-worth.”

Self-care comes in different forms. For athlete Marline Capones, staying fit is one of them—a routine that helps her build strength and resilience.
She pointed out, “Consistent physical training is my non-negotiable. It keeps me strong, not just physically but mentally as well.”

While self-care is often seen as a luxury, these Filipinas see it as a vital part of their journey. Prioritizing their well-being gives them the confidence and balance to overcome challenges and break stereotypes.
In industries where beauty standards often dictate how women should look, these Filipinas are redefining the rules. With confidence, they challenge expectations, proving that beauty isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s about authenticity and self-expression.

For Danika, Xzar, and Marline, it’s all about enduring intense heat from outdoor activities that can take a toll on their hair, leaving it frizzy and damaged.

Jessey and Camille, on the other hand, constantly deal with sweat and the strain of keeping their hair up all day from training.
Meanwhile, frequent weather changes during flights can leave Chezka’s hair dull and lifeless.
But despite all the expectations and challenges, these Filipinas remain unstoppable. They stay true to themselves, confident in how they look. Their secret? They #CompleteTheCare with Dove Ceramide Intense Repair, as part of their routine for strong, nourished hair.
It’s clear these Filipinas understand that breaking down barriers isn’t just a personal win; it’s about making the path easier for the women who come after them. Here’s what they have to say to anyone looking to follow in their footsteps.
“Stay authentic,” Jessey exclaimed. “Perseverance also plays a big role…especially in a society where people keep on trying to define your potential.”

Danika shared, “Don’t be afraid to work with other women. Collaborate instead of compete. Learn and grow together, instead of trying to outdo one another. Confidence is key.”
Xzar, on the other hand, keeps it real with a gentle nudge to start, even if it feels daunting. “The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you’ll realize your strength,” she said. “Fear fades with experience.”

For Marline, consistency is key. She explained, “Go for it. Start your journey slowly, step by step. You’ll get used to it and find your rhythm.”

Camille shifts the focus inward, offering this piece of advice: “Give everything you can to the game without expecting anything back, and learn to embrace the journey. It’s in that process where you discover the best parts of yourself and you see how capable you really are.”
Meanwhile, for Chezka, it’s a simple, direct reminder that hard work and belief go a long way. “Don’t let your doubts stop you. If you’re willing to put in the work, there’s nothing you can’t do,” she related.

Their stories prove that the essence of being a woman lies in embracing one’s strength and authenticity. Faced with their own set of challenges, these women displayed resilience and determination to break barriers in male-dominated fields.
These Filipinas aren’t just thriving in such industries—they’re redefining them. Their journeys prove that strength comes in many forms: the power to persevere, the grace to rise above doubt, and the confidence to claim their space.
They’ve shattered barriers, proving that success isn’t about fitting into a mold, but about embracing your true self and pushing forward. Their stories inspire us to break free from limitations—take risks and create their own opportunities.
The message is clear: The world is not off-limits to those who dare to embrace endless possibilities. The future isn't just equal—it’s undeniably female.
