Any bride can attest to the fact that planning a wedding is no joke. Finalizing your dress is truly just the tip of the iceberg. There are still so many things left to pay close attention to, which is why the last thing you want to worry about is your hair and makeup.
Best Lipstick for Brides
That said, we think there's no harm in customizing specific details in your bridal look. Wearing a lipstick that you know you look amazing in, for example, can have such a major impact in how your makeup registers in photos. Not to mention, it'll make you feel more confident as well! So if you're looking for the perfect shade to wear on your walk down the aisle, look no further. Below, five celebrity makeup artists reveal their picks for the best bridal lip colors:
1. Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Venus
2. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk and Bitch Perfect
Mikka Marcaida's celebrity clients include Sarah Lahbati, Yassi Pressman, and Alex Gonzaga, so with her, you can rest assured that your bridal look will be the best it can be. According to Mikka, she always primes her client's lips with Elizabeth Arden's Eight-Hour Cream while preparing the skin for makeup. And when it comes to lip colors, the makeup artist says that she loves layering different products, and she has a foolproof three-step routine for a long-lasting pout. "When [the rest of the] makeup is done, I usually dab a stain first, like a liquid matte lipstick from Huda Beauty, and then I put on a cream lipstick to balance the matte-ness, before I finish with Dior's Lip Maximizer for extra fullness and hydration," says the makeup arist.
Her go-to lip combos are Huda Beauty's Liquid Matte Lipstick in Venus with Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk and Bitch Perfect. "Sometimes I use a darker shade of the Huda for more morena-friendly tones," Mikka adds. She then uses the shades 01 or 03 of Dior's Lip Maximizer.

3. Tom Ford Lip Color in Pink Dusk and Universal Appeal
4. NARS Audacious Lipsticks in Vanessa and Barbara
5. Laura Mercier Rouge Essential Lipstick in A La Rose
Kathryn Bernardo and Jinkee Pacquiao's go-to makeup artist Denise Ochoa is all about that muted bridal lip. She loves dusty mauve colors in velvet matte or satin finishes that are both flattering and transfer-resistant. Unlike most artists, however, she opts to skip lip gloss. "I hardly do gloss as it can stain the white veil or the dress easily, and we don’t want it to transfer to the groom's lips when they kiss," she says. "I sometimes use gloss for the portraits, but take it out before she finally wears the veil."
She has quite the collection of favorite shades—all of which she mixes together to create the perfect color for the bride. But if you were to take a peek into her kit, you'll see the following: Tom Ford's Pink Dusk and Universal Appeal, Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk, NARS' Audacious Lipsticks in Vanessa and Barbara, and Laura Mercier's Rouge Essential Lipstick in A La Rose.

6. Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge in Ultra Lust
7. Pat McGrath Luxetrance Lipstick in Sextrology
8. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in Le Nu
Rick Calderon is the man behind some of the effortless, glowing looks you see on Max Collins and Bianca Umali. He believes that for a wedding lip to stay on, the bride's pout has to be prepped and primed to perfection. That's why before applying his go-to colors, he uses a sugar-based lip scrub to exfoliate his client's lips and achieve a smooth base. After, he applies a moisturizer like Make Up For Ever's Ultra HD Lip Booster (P1500, Sephora.ph) and Avene's Cold Cream (price unavailable, Watsons).
If a bride will be having a boudoir shoot, Rick applies a product with a slight sheen for a natural look. "I use just the Clarins Lip Oil or Dior Addict Lip Glow in the shade 001 (my holy grail lip product if I want a natural fresh plump looking lip, it just gives a natural glow and color to your lips)," he shares.
For the ceremony itself, Rick says that he usually chooses neutral pinks and peachy shades. In the pink department, his favorites include the Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge in Ultra Lust, Pat McGrath's Luxetrance Lipstick in Sextrology, and YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 70. But if you're in for a peachy vibe, he loves Charlotte Tilbury's Hot Lips in Super Cindy. "[As the] last touch, I always top it off with Charlotte Tilbury's Hall of Fame Lip Gloss," shares the makeup artist.
9. Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in M100 and M401
Patrick Alcober is the makeup artist to have on-call if you love a timeless, photogenic glam. He believes that a bride shouldn't only have a nude lip as an option for her big day—in fact, he loves a red lip on clients, too!
For a ceremony look, he of course starts with classic and subtle shades of nude. "I like using Make Up For Ever's lip liner in 3C, and I will top it with the Artist Rouge Lipstick in the shade M100," he shares. "It's like a light beige color, which will produce a fresh natural lip that's perfect for day time bridal look." If he wants a stronger flush on the mouth, he applies a pink lip tint on top or a brown color to match warmer skin tones.
A bride's pre-reception look change is the best opportunity for a pop of color according to Patrick. "I use a much darker shade for the evening festivities. I use a red lip liner (Make Up For Ever in 8C) and I put the Artist Rouge Lipstick in shade M401, a red that's perfect for a night time look for the bride," he says. "This is optional, but if she wants it to be glossy, I apply a clear lip gloss."

11. Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick in Christy
If you've ever double-tapped a beauty look on Janella Salvador or Toni Gonzaga, it's most likely Effie Iñigo's work. As a woman herself, she definitely understands what a bride looks for in the perfect wedding glam. "For brides, I prefer natural-looking [lipstick] shades for ceremonies—pinks mixed with browns, mauve, or any warm color since I want my brides to look radiant, glowing, and fresh," she tells us. Some of Effie's signature colors include the ever-popular Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury, a peachy color called Hit Me Up from K-beauty brand 3CE, and Christy, a warm-toned pink from Pat McGrath.
