It's official: Shu Uemura Philippines has picked Angelique Dinglasan and Grace Deang as its two winning candidates to the Beauty Art Make-Up Competition 2009-Regional Finals in Malaysia. The competition, which opened last May and whittled down to six semi-finalists as of last night, took on the timely and omni-glamorous theme of Mother Nature and its inspiring, life-giving energies.

Angelique Dinglasan, the local competition's Level 1 winner, is an alum of the London College of Fashion-University of the Arts, where she initially studied fashion. After finding a more fulfilling career in beauty, she came back to Manila and got her feet wet doing makeup for magazine shoots, editorials, weddings and ads. Her approach to makeup is enhancing one's natural beauty through a unique use of color, with occasional experimentation with creativity and brush strokes.

Bagging the Level 2 top spot is Grace Deang, who conversely, found her foray into the industry via a more casual route: by doing makeup for friends. Having an innate passion and skill for the craft, she ventured to the U.S. and enrolled in several workshops like New York's Il-MIKIAGE and Trmptu NY and Kryolan San Francisco to refine her talent. Makeup, for her, is an empowering tool and one that should encourage an inner confidence in women—a trait she loves to brings out in clients.

Both candidates will jet off to Kuala Lumpur on October 28th to compete in the regional finals of the competition, and for this round, they each went home with an Ultimate Brush Set (worth P50,000) and Makeup Box (worth P40,000).

Good luck, ladies, and congratulations to Shu Uemura Philippines!
