What’s your current hair condition?

I have been cursed with really fine strands and limp, wavy, sometimes frizzy hair—it's complicated!—has always been a personal battle. Call it prissy but I also don’t like the feeling of wet hair. Hence, I blowdry every single day—also to add volume—and iron out stubborn baby hair.

What treatment did you get? What were your expectations?

I booked an appointment at the Jing Monis Velvet Salon for the Keratin Complex Treatment. It's a smoothing system that supposedly locks in keratin—the protein that makes hair shiny and healthy—into the cuticle of the hair shaft to make it frizz-free and more manageable for about three to five months. With this promise, that leaves me more time for breakfast (or sleep!) as blowdrying can be done with much more ease, and iron-setting my hair can actually be eliminated from my daily routine.

How was the service? Were you satisfied?

The procedure started with a light wash using a clarifying shampoo to remove any product and oil buildup from my hair. Upon being ushered to one of the salon's comfortable chairs, the staff assessed the condition of my hair and asked about my daily hair regimen. He then explained to me what the treatment was all about and the step-by-step procedure I was to undertake.

The staff then started applying the product, which was a light cream, onto sections of my hair until every strand had been sheathed. He covered it with cling wrap and set it for about 30 minutes. Afterwards he started drying my hair without washing and went straight to setting it with a hair iron. The whole process lasted for about two hours. I was instructed not to wash my hair for three days. For someone who's prissy with her hair, I had to protest! Enter Keratin Volumizing Dry Shampoo (P1095). It may not have given me the feeling of freshly-washed hair but it was good enough.

After 72 hours, I washed my hair and was pleased to see it was both smoother AND a lot softer. While it keeps my hair straight on days when I prefer to let it down, it was also much easier to style it. My biggest surprise was when I tied it in a ponytail the whole day; when I removed it in the evening, it left very minimal—negligible, actually—demarcations on my hair!

Are you willing to do it again? Will you recommend it to others?

Yes, I would definitly do it again. In fact, Joy Sison, Business Development Assistant of Zulusibs, Inc. (distributor of Keratin Complex in the Philippines), says that the more you do it, the better the condition of your hair gets. Keratin Complex has also a range of products to complement the treatment: Keratin Care Shampoo and Conditioner, P896 each; Keratin Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner, P895 each.

I would recommend this treatment to women who are constantly on-the-go. Keratin Complex Treatment gives the convenience of wash-and-wear hair.

Price: Keratin Complex Treatment at Jing Monis Velvet Salon, starts at P5000 for short; P6000 for medium-length, P7000 for long; and P8000 for extra-long hair.

What’s your current hair condition?

I believe my hair is a bit dry; I don’t notice it as much though because I like the texture. But since I wash my hair twice a day, I feel like I need a moisturizing treatment to make up for the natural oil that gets stripped off.

What treatment did you get? What were your expectations?

I asked for the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque, which was supposed to make my hair supple and smell oh-so-good after the treatment, and so that’s what I expected. I also anticipated the fact that my hair would be a lot smoother and sleeker compared to my usual messy ‘do. I also asked for a trim to get the shape of my hair back, since it's been feeling weighed down since growing out.

How was the service? Were you satisfied?

The service was great—they first used Macadamia Natural Oil Rejuvenating Shampoo then started applying the mask, which smelled so good! While waiting for that to set in, they also gave me a relaxing back massage. As for my haircut, my stylist asked what I wanted and immediately started working on my haircut. Overall, I was satisfied with the results! I had bouncy and shiny hair right after the whole process.

Are you willing to do it again? Will you recommend it to others?

I'm definitely willing to do it again to keep my locks moisturized and healthy. I suggest to do it once or twice a month to give your hair that boost of moisture it needs.

What’s your current hair condition?

I’ve always had long hair, which has been abused by frequent coloring and bleaching; I sported ombré locks back then before having it dyed back to a darker shade. My hair was always tangled because the ends were so dry. I always wore a bun because it was too time-consuming to do anything else. I had it cut to a blunt bob before because I was tired of my long, unmanageable dry hair.

What treatment did you get? What were your expectations?

Romar of Jing Monis Velvet Salon suggested that he reshape my current haircut. He wanted to make soft layers to offset my round face. He showed me some pictures similar to the hairstyle he was aiming for to give me an idea of how the haircut would look. My color-treated hair was longing for a treatment to revive it and help retain its color. I got the Schwarzkopf Color Freeze Treatment, which claimed to make color last longer while boosting its shine and vibrancy.

How was the service? Were you satisfied?

I like how Romar made me comfortable through the whole process. During the haircut, his scissor skills were swift and precise. He told me the outcome would be a wash-and-wear hairstyle. He said it was always safe to assume that a client didn't have the luxury of blowdry time before stepping out of the house, and that a great hairstyle shouldn't take too much effort to be presentable. He showed me how it would like when it air-dried by having a hair dryer blasted on my locks without the aid of roller brushes or anything else. I loved my new shortened 'do.

The Color Freeze Treatment smelled great. My hair was wrapped in saran and because I was rushing, a hair steamear revolved over my head; the cloud of steam sped up the process. My hair looked significantly shiny. My dark brown tresses looked healthy again!

Are you willing to do it again? Will you recommend it to others?

I definitely don't think I can ever let go of having my hair colored, so the Color Freeze Treatment is a must. Color-fading is definitely not a good thing! I strongly recommend it to girls who regularly have their hair colored. I like the haircut because I don't need to style it everyday. I seriously cut my morning ritual time by half.
