Beauty Lab: Diode Hair Reduction Saying goodbye to unwanted underarm hair using the newest laser technology.

Let's face it, hairless underarms are the dream. Never having to strategically plan on when not to wear sleeveless tops in between waxes or never having to make that embarrassing run to the drugstore to buy a razor on forgetful days are problems we'd all gladly say goodbye to. The birth of laser hair removal provided an attractive albeit costly answer to the armpit hair problem. Although not exactly a new concept to skin centers, The Spa Fort branch's new Skin Dermatology and Laser Center now offer s a more targeted and effective laser hair removal system using Diode Hair Reduction.

How it Works

An upgrade to IPL (Intense Pulse Light) services that are used to zap away hair, the main difference between the two is to put it simply, Diode machines produce better results, hurt less and work faster. My attending physician explained that laser machines operate with different wavelengths to target specific problems. Whereas IPL machines may be used for hair removal, aside from facial rejuvenation and for dyspigmentation and telangiectasias (red spots), diode lasers specifically target the hair follicle. One diode treatment therefore equates to three or four IPLs. Diodes also eliminate sun restrictions (IPL patients are often not allowed to go to the beach for a certain amount of time) and lessen the chances of burning the area. The machine at Skin  uses Elos Technology with brings together radiofrequency (heat energy) and the diode (optical energy) to destroy the follicle.
