Am I the only one who still isn't over The Queen's Gambit? My guess is in the negative. I'm personally not over Anya Taylor-Joy's amazing performance in this series, which obviously left me no other choice but to stan and watch her other movies and shows. Not to mention, I just had to look up her beauty secrets, too. And lo and behold, Anya has actually spilled one of her go-to skincare products, which she discovered while filming the hit Neflix series!
In an interview with Byrdie, the actress shared that her makeup artist Daniel Parker introduced her to the wonders of witch hazel. "He's a huge proponent of [it]. The first thing he did on my skin as I was playing Beth is that he would always prep my skin with witch hazel," she said.
FYI, witch hazel is type of astringent that you'll find mostly in toners. It's known for helping soothe the skin and reducing inflammation, so it's well-loved among those with acne-prone skin. Though it can be potentially dehydrating for dry skin types, some formulations counter this effect with other ingredients.
For example, the exact toner Daniel used on the actress from Thayers also contains aloe, rose water, and glycerin—hydrating and soothing components that your skin will love. In fact, Anya swears it does wonders as part of her beauty routine! "It really is such a good way to wake up skin without it being too aggressive," she explains.
