To label something as a bag essential, it has to prove itself useful for different occasions. And such is the case of face powder, which btw, is not only effective for blotting away shine. Here are five alternative uses for this powerhouse product:
1. As an eyeshadow primer
Using an eye primer helps eyeshadow look more vibrant and fresher for longer. But if you don't happen to have yours on hand, powdering your eyelids can be your emergency solution. Not only will this mattify your oily eyelids, it'll also make blending easier since powders blend over other powders better than over bare eyelids.

2. As a lipstick mattifier
Want your lipstick to last longer? Do this two-step blotting technique. First, settle a thin layer of tissue on your lips, then with a brush, and then tap some loose powder over the area to seal that color in.

3. As a mascara primer
Drop the falsies and use powder to create your own lash volume. Apply one thin layer of mascara, and before that dries completely, brush some translucent loose powder over your lashes to add a bit of clump to them. Set that with a generous second coat of mascara and see the difference!
4. As emergency dry shampoo
Oily, limp hair is always a no-go, and it's especially frustrating when it happens on a special day. So when you're on-the-go and notice a greasy spot, here's what you can do:
To absorb the bulk of the oils, pre-blot with a piece of tissue or blotting paper. This will prevent the powder from clumping up. After you do that, grab your favorite colorless loose powder and tap some on top of those oily areas. Work the talc into your hair with your fingers and ta-da! No more obvious hair grease.

5. As an eyeshadow fixer
Doing your eye makeup under time pressure is bad news for proper blending. You may or may not have walked out the door without noticing that you missed to diffuse some harsh lines. Fortunately, you don't need to lug your huge eyeshadow palettes with you everywhere to fix such mess.
With a skin-toned setting powder, blend away any mistakes with your non-clammy fingers. If you're lucky and you have a clean brush in your purse, use that instead! As you blend, you'll notice the lines being smoothened away and another makeup crisis being averted.
