Craving chocolate but trying to keep yourself from eating sweets? Don't run to your pantry just yet. A few splashes of chocolate perfume might just be the best temporary solution. You'll be treating the people around you to a delicious whiff, too, and believe us—no one will be complaining.

Read on to learn more about this deliciously sweet note and find your new favorite choco spritz!

What are chocolate fragrances?

Just like your favorite chocolate dessert, the chocolate scents used in perfume are also extracted from raw cocoa beans. In the fragrance world, they call this essence chocolate absolute, and is often used as a base note to add depth or richness to a scent blend.

This chocolate absolute pairs well with many recognizable perfume notes like vanilla and orange. It also mixes in perfectly with spicy flavors, some of which being cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. That said, it's not strictly compatible with only gourmand notes—you'll also find chocolate notes in floral fragrances with lavender and rose, but one of its more popular partners are patchouli and sandalwood.

1. Lush I'm Home

This scent captures the feeling of those lazy, chilly nights you spend binge-watching Netflix with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. And no wonder, because Lush created this with cocoa absolute from Colombia, fusing the rich note with vanilla and benzoin for a fragrance that's sweet, warm, and familiar enough to smell like home.

2. Prada Candy Night

If Prada Candy is bubbly and unapologetically saccharine, then Prada Candy Night is its vibrant, sultry, but a little rebellious cousin. The fragrance opens with a refreshing whiff of neroli, iris, and bitter orange, then reveals the notes of tonka bean and vanilla that you'd recognize from the original Candy. The sweet surprise comes at the end, when the seductive mix of chocolate and patchouli finally hit.

3. Clinique My Happy Cocoa & Cashmere

When you can't indulge in some dessert, a few spritzes of this light, cozy scent from Clinique should get you through the day. The blend of cocoa and vanilla alone will remind you of your favorite chocolatey baked goods, but don't worry—it's not that sweet. The amber, musks, pink pepper, and jasmine are there to freshen up the scent. In fact, you can even layer it with the other My Happy scents in your collection to switch it up!

4. Hugo Boss The Scent For Her

This citrusy floral from Hugo Boss has a dark cocoa base that creates the perfect contrast. It's a subtler take on your average chocolate-smelling scent, letting the green mandarin, freesia, and pink pepper shine instead for a more vibrant, feminine feel. We can't not mention the stunning rose and gold bottle it comes in either, because it's the icing on the cake for such a dainty fragrance.

6. Mugler Angel

Fresh, youthful, and sugary-sweet, Mugler's Angel is one of the world's most recognizable chocolate perfumes for a reason. Besides, it is the scent that paved the way for gourmand scents in the mainstream. Popularity aside, it's hard not to fall in love with this dessert in a bottle. The combination of citruses, cotton candy, caramel, and vanilla with the chocolate are just impossible to resist.

7. Demeter Dark Chocolate

Demeter's Dark Chocolate is by no means subtle with its inspiration. It smells exactly like a bar of chocolate you just cracked open, with a subtle whiff of vanilla that rounds up the sweetness perfectly. In fact, you might want to store the bottle away from any prying noses (read: pets) who could easily mistake it for the real thing.
