Because real beauty knows no age.

Truth is, no one is exempted from aging. It’s simply an inevitable part of life. And as the years pass, so are the changes that come with it. We get gray hair, fine lines, sagging skin, and there shouldn’t be any shame to that—it’s just reality. Aging is not an enemy, in fact, there is so much beauty that comes with it, and that includes the opportunity to love and rediscover a new version of yourself.

Most of us, including celebrities, deal with anxiety about getting older. We get you. Learning to accept the reality of aging can be a process, but it’s possible. And while we’re all in the pursuit of being comfortable with our own skin, we called in these Filipinas to share their own experiences and advice on how you can embrace aging. Get inspired, and read their story below!

Sam Oh (@iamsamoh)

"I’m not above the desire to look younger but I think it’s kind of pointless to obsess about it. Not to mention it can be exhausting. So instead of focusing on the wrinkles and shifting features, I try to celebrate the positives of aging. It’s so cliché but I know myself much better now, I know what works for me and I’m confident enough to just do my own thing and I really do find myself much happier for it. And I think that kind of joyful state radiates past the physical stuff and more on having a youthful energy."

"At first, I wasn’t aware of my skin aging like age spots, sagging skin, and wrinkles, so I guess the first step is acceptance. Learn to assess yourself without criticism. The second is awareness, there’s a lot of non-invasive procedures and beauty products within your budget to slow down aging. It’s hard to reverse wrinkles etc. but you can prevent it from [getting] worse. Third is listen to your body and for sure you will know what it needs, rest exercise or just a good facial. Remember when you feel good you look good."

"I have to be honest, I’m pretty much old-fashioned. I know age is just a number but I believe that aging is real. When I turned 30 I told myself I need to help and commit to getting better. I can’t rely on anything, I [should] enjoy every stage of my life. It’s challenging but I’m all about the challenge. I love seeing myself looking better than before. I think my skin is better than ever.

"My advice for embracing your age? Be proud of where we are at now. We can always do better, you just need to decide and do it. Don’t be scared to do something different to help you live forward. Workout, staying fit is my best advice. Eating smart is always the way to go. Enjoy every year of your life."

Ina Raymundo (@inaraymundo95)

"Ever since I was a lot younger, I knew already that I wanted to age gracefully. Having a role model helps and one of them was my Nanay. She was beautiful, a healthy eater, had a sharp mind, always looked and dressed nicely. She was full of wisdom and lived up to 94. I am doing what she did, by simply taking good care of myself. By accepting that with age, one has to be mindful of health issues by seeing my doctors and getting tested regularly. It’s a lot of work!

"My goal is not to "freeze" my age but just to slow down the process by exercising and taking good care of my skin, eating mindfully, wearing the right clothes and makeup. Ultimately, by being kind and having a positive outlook in life because beauty really does come from within."

"I try to laugh a lot, pray a lot, dance a lot, spend a lot of time with loved ones and say I love you often. Usually, I also eat good and healthy food, cheat on weekends, workout five to six times a week, and even use dye shampoo (as often as you need). I also take supplements! On the side, I also write down my thoughts, read books, and commit to doing your beauty regimen daily. One best tip? Apply sunblock! Lots of it! Also, read the bible and take it to heart. Forgive a lot and forgive easily. Simply stop worrying about things you cannot control instead surrender everything to God. He alone is in control. Just live your life and make sure it is aligned to His will. Be happy. Be grateful."

"Aging is something I don’t think about all the time, though I am fully aware that it's inevitable. I slowly learned how to prioritize my health and wellness and not push myself as hard as I used to. My tip for aging is to never stop taking care of yourself, find a physical activity that you love to do, and always have a positive mindset."
