Look fresh.

All you hardworking girls know better than anyone what a long, sleepless night can do. Hello, dark undereye circles! While there's no better cure than some good ol' R&R, there are ways to get rid of (or prevent) those dreaded, bruise-colored half-moons. Makeup is great, but skincare is even more importantbelow, three hacks you can try to banish that tired look forever.

1. Preventatives

Sleep, hydration, and sunscreen

Not-so-fun fact: You can't completely prevent dark undereye circles, but you can definitely minimize them. Getting enough sleep is key, but also, put down that happy-hour drink. Too much alcohol and salt (no to unhealthy snacking!) will dehydrate you, making your eyes puffy, which in turn makes discoloration look even worse. Most importantly, don't forget to wear facial sunscreen, as harmful UV rays damage skin and contribute to the problem.

2. Topical Solutions

Eye creams and daily moisturizers

There are tons of topical treatments that help ease hyperpigmentation! Be careful, though, when using ingredients like retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, and vitamin C; they can irritate the sensitive skin around the eye area. Apply the same eye cream (ideally boosted with plumpers like hyaluronic acid and glycerin) you use at night in the morning—according to makeup guru John Stapleton, moisturizing helps concealer smooth on better.

3. Medical Treatments

Filling agents and lasers

Visit The Aivee Clinic (2nd Floor, East Bldg. Forbestown Center Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City), Skin 101 (94 Katipunan Avenue, White Plains, Quezon City), or Skin MD Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology (G124, Ground Floor, Corinthian Executive Regency, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City)

First things first: Always consult a board-certified dermatologist or cosmetic physician for safety and best results! If the darkness is related to visible blood vessels (your cue is a reddish-purple hue) the doctor can treat it with a vascular laser, but if age is the culprit, the problem is relatively easy to fix with a hyaluronic-acid filling agent, like Restylane or Belotero. Just don't overfill: you'll end up looking like the bags under your eyes grew.
