While Hollywood celebrities were busy getting glammed up for the Met Gala 2017, our favorite Hallyu stars were also bringing out their A-game for South Korea’s very own Baeksang Arts Awards. And given that it’s one of their most anticipated red carpet events, it comes as no surprise that actors and actresses would show up wearing fresh-off-the-runway designer pieces: Park Shin Hye opted for a floral-embroidered frock by Valentino, Yoona wowed the crowd in a hot pink Monique Lhuiller creation, and Seo Hyun Jin was a vision in Vivienne Westwood—but the biggest surprise of the night? Kim Yoo Jung in, well, a $250 dress from H&M.
The Moonlight Drawn by Clouds actress, who won the female popularity award, passed up on the chance to slip into an expensive gown from a luxury fashion house for the evening. Instead, she chose to walk down the red carpet donning a blush pleated dress from H&M’s Conscious Exclusive 2017 Collection, the Swedish retail giant’s answer to becoming more environment-friendly. Each piece from the said collection is made from sustainable materials, and Yoo Jung’s ethereal dress in particular was made from polyester composed of recycled shoreline waste.
Turns out, this 17-year-old K-drama star is not only beautiful on the outside. She's also devoted to helping the environment in her own little ways.
She might not have been in the most lavish dress of the evening, but this girl still clearly managed to steal the spotlight. You looked stunning, Yoo Jung!
