The Devil Wears Prada is already a decade old, but it truly doesn't feel like it. We still have most (if not all) of the film's dialogue memorized by heart, and Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly is an iconic character on its own. Except now, we have a whole other reason to think back at the movie. A deleted scene just appeared online, and we dare say—it's groundbreaking.

Shared by Buzzfeed's Spencer Althouse, the scene takes us back to the event that Andy (Anne Hathaway) had to memorize a book of names just so Miranda could greet everyone as if she knew them all. It happens right after Emily (Emily Blunt) offers to cover for Andy so she can run to her boyfriend's birthday party. All caught up? Watch the entire scene below:

It doesn't look like much now, but here's the thing. Miranda Priestly is meant to be a cold character, one who never shows signs of vulnerability publicly. Having her rush to her (arrogant) husband's side like that is a spectacle of softness she would never allow. It makes her look less like the unfazed magazine editor we've already grown to love-slash-hate at that point. The scene could've taken the film to an entirely different direction.

Many fans of the film seemed to have felt the same way. Check out some of the responses below:

"I'm glad they took it out. It doesn't belong," one user tweets.

"[It] would've changed the entire movie—ruined her whole persona," says another.

Someone even brought up the book the movie was based on. "Miranda's character was already softened compared to the book," they write. "This would have been a total departure on every conceivable level."

All that said, the scene does make us wonder what could've been if they went with this secretly-vulnerable Miranda plot to the end. Would it have still become the film we know and love today? We can't really say.

What do you think of the scene?
