Color holds power in captivating your audience. But there's something about the tonal contrasts of black and white photography that immediately commands attention. In busy parties, where colors can be overwhelming and light is scarce, black and white photography can immortalize the moments in regal quality. You just have to work on your composition and framing!

Take it from photographer Paolo Pineda who shot our #PreviewXXII party in black and white. Armed with a small camera, his party shots looked incredibly alive. He tells us, "Shooting party photos in black and white will make you feel how the night felt more than how it looked."

While Paolo believes that a smartphone can achieve similar photos, phone cameras "might have a slower flash recycle time and it will be harder to take candid photos. It's really about the moments and less [about the] photography."

True enough, see how he captured the moments at #PreviewXXII below.

If you're curious which camera he used in taking these photos, Paolo shares that he used his trusted Sony RX100 point and shoot. "This tiny little camera is always underrated because of the size. But the most important is it fits my pocket easily. And having a smaller cam is less intimidating and will give you a more fun crowd. It's really just point and shoot flash photography."

Try it out at your next shindig and see what we mean!
