Confession: I hate exercising.

What: The Plana FORMA workout

What it is: Plana FORMA is a total-body workout that combines yoga, dance, pilates, and barre. It involves a ton of target-specific exercises that work on the abdominal, thigh, hips, and seat muscles while strengthening the back and working the hamstrings.

Current condition: Let me just get this out of the way: I hate exercising. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of it, but the execution...not so much. Scratch that: not at all. Imagine my own surprise when I heard myself agreeing to try the new Plana FORMA branch along Tomas Morato. Did my ears deceive me? Did I really just say yes? I did, apparently.

How the workout went: I found myself strolling into Plana FORMA's airy, sun-filled space on a bright Thursday afternoon.

The session started with warm-up exercises using two sets of weights to activate the upper body and arms, plus a full-body prep through push-ups and a bit of core stability work. Afterwards came barre exercises, which focused on the seat muscles, thighs, calves, hips, and abs. Note: the briefness of that last sentence is misleading to the highest possible levelevery tiny movement built up to an intense burn in each target body part. By the time we all wound down to stretching, I was in flames. That's how you know it's working, though; my weak, sluggish self wheezed through the class, but finished it nevertheless. IMHO, it's a fantastic introductory workout for all my fellow vegetables!

Conclusion: I already feel stronger. I'm not even kidding: I know that when the buzzing soreness in my thighs calms down, I'm going to want more. Am I finally bidding the couch noodle life goodbye? I've got every reason to think soPlana FORMA is making a very, very strong case. You can bet I'll be back.
